[x] Shortened Names

It's been so long since I've contributed a lot that I've forgotten a lot of our rule decisions. What's the policy on people using shortened forms of their first names?

In my specific case, on all the Asia albums I own, credit is given to "Geoff Downes" rather than "Geoffrey Downes" as he's listed in our DB. Should he be Geoffrey||Geoff, or in the DB as Geoff, or should I just ignore the fact that my liner notes and the site don't quite say the same thing?

There's a whole new rule on this called Fore-Play. If there's ever an inconsistent use of first names, the full name is the default (or should be) in the database. We want the database to reflect the credits, so we should properly list him as Geoffrey||Geoff. Which ones do you have?

Astra, Aria, and Aura. I can go change that last, which I just submitted.

I imagine he's probably credited similarly on other releases as well; most things online use "Geoff". I'm not sure I've actually seen a "Geoffrey" appear somewhere, but I don't own most of Downes' stuff.
