Do we not count the word quartett as distinct from quartet? Seems no different to the Thin Lizzy vs Thin Lizzie argument to me.

I think "quartett" is German(?) for "quartet" so it would be more akin to a "The Beatles" / "Les (?) Beatles" situation.
