I still fail to see why e.g. "Richie Kotzen / Greg Howe" is not considered a band and "Kotzen / Howe" is. It's two guys making music and recording together, regardless of the name on the album cover.
I understand you want to avoid fake links but it's not like some guy in a suit said "Let's give Kotzen and Howe a call and have them record an album together so we can make millions" as oposed to e.g. Robby Williams doing a duet with Nicole Kidman.

Well, that gets at the tough question of what's a "band" versus a "collaboration". I think both your examples should be treated the same, but I don't know how they should be treated. I lean toward "collaboration", but then I also wanted collaborations to link the collaborating artists together. Since, at least for now, they don't, I'm not sure what to do.

I'm not sure what the best approach is either, but I wouldn't be surprised if we come up with a better approach for some of these cases further down the road.
