I've incorporated MrP's (I believe) correct recommendations about the standardizations of artists names on the basis of predominately used forenames into a new Rules section appropriately titled Fore-Play. Short People Got No Reason has been merged with the new section and has since been removed.
Fore-Play also addresses the use of initials and their now unacceptable use as a naming standard.
There have been a number of threads about these various topics but hopefully they have all been addressed with the new Rule.

I'm not excited about the "initials" rule, but, regardless, i think O.P. Moore is a bad example to use. Obviously "O.P." isn't a diminutive of "Chris" (since he is a redhead, it may be a reference to Opie - Ron Howard.) Maybe use someone where the initials actually represent the artist's first and middle names.

Sorry, I'm still not clear about the resolution of this thread...

Should J.R. Blackmore's standard name be Jürgen R. Blackmore or just Jürgen Blackmore?
<nitpick>
Also, you might want to do a spellcheck on the new rule: prevelent, forname, relevent, occassional... And you're better off with "predominant(ly)" rather than "predominate(ly)".
</nitpick>

Strong Suit

It depends. If the R. always appears in his album credits then it's a full expansion of both the J. and the R. If the R. fails to appear then it's a The "The" situation and the R (or correctly the full version) is dropped.
Well, after I was the first one eliminated in my 2nd grade spelling bee I knew that spelling was not my strong suit. We could really use someone who works at a dictionary. Oh wait... hah-hah.
