It's been a while so I can't remember the rule.
A band records a 5 track demo tape and it seems to be released under the name East Link. A year later, 2 of these tracks get remastered and released on a 7" credited to Eastlink.
Is this a non-trival band name change? Their band name seems to be fairly inconsistent on the web.

I think we have an example somewhere of this being treated as a non-trivial "punctuation fluctuation"-style change, so that Eastlink would be the default name with aliasing to East Link for the demo. I can't remember the example though.
