OK, who the heck is actually a member of this band? Python, help me out here, you listen to this stuff too.
Here's the band's official membership page: [home.aland.net] http://home.aland.net/brazen.abbot/members.htm
The liner notes to the release I own, "My Resurrection", are similar; they give "Credits" to "Nikolo Kotzev", "The Singers: (names, which tracks they sung on)" and "The Players: (names)".
Am I right in thinking this is really a one-member group (Nikolo Kotzev) with a bunch of guests? Because I can't see putting the singers in as "members", but if I do that I don't think I can put the backing band in either given the similar way in which they're credited.

I used to have some of this stuff and it's the 'revolving door' question: are the guys who go through the door members or is the doorman the only member?
Although not conclusive the interchangeability of the band name and its release as a solo album for the very first album speaks volumes to me - I think (as I thought when I had the album) that Kotzev alone is Brazen Abbot.

The website's history of the band bandies about terms like 'line-up' and 'was joined by' rather more carelessly that we do.
This album might offer more hope due to the way it's credited - as if by performing live for the first time the group finally achieved a degree of substance -

I've tried to get them into the db before. I don't have any of their albums but my neighbor does. So once in a while I ask him if I can have a look at his CD's ("yeah yeah, bandtoband again, right?"). After checking various booklets, my conclusion was also that Brazen Abbot = Kotzev.
The only doubt I had was for a live album. If I remember correctly, all musicians were credited equally. Also, since it's a live album, there was only one singer (Joe Lynn Turner I believe) so that takes away a lot of confusion. However, if we treat Brazen Abbot as a one-member band for studio albums, then we should do the same for live albums.

I'm not making a case for the live album to be a band but am not sure that the way we treat one album defines how we treat another - there are bands that flip from one-man effort to true band.
To get them in in any case - isn't it easiest to get Baltimoore in - of whom Kotzev was a member?

I agree with mr. p that treating a group as a one-man band in the studio does not imply they are also a one-man band live.
In fact, Circle Of Dust, a band I'd _love_ to get in, explicitly credits their live line-up on their studio albums:
"Circle Of Dust is Scott Albert. Circle Of Dust Live is ..."
...so if they had ever _released_ a live album, I'd put it in as their live membership, despite their studio work being one guy.
But yeah, at least for their studio stuff, sounds like we're all in general agreement that Kotzev is the only member. Good enough for now. (I'll go look at the Baltimoore connection, I'm familiar with one or two of their albums.)
