That's a great story. It's so easy for songs to get 'lost' if the lyrics aren't online and they're not distributed digitally in such a way that either Shazam or SoundHound pick them up.

If they had consulted me on the research, I might have been able to speed up the discovery of the song, though the story wouldn't have been as interesting to tell! Searching on Newspapers.com for "better than the cherry on a whipped cream sundae" turns up a music review in the Nov. 28, 1999 Arizona Republic.
