i don't go to too many gigs these days but it's been a big week. played a pretty good show on friday night (missed out on seeing Swans though). then on sunday night saw The Clean:

who were a bit loose and jammy and excellent and lots of fun. then tonight i've just come back from seeing Joanna Newsom:
[www.bandtoband.com] http://www.bandtoband.com/band/joanna-newsom
who was excellent in a completely different, precisely delivered and arranged way. her voice and harp skills were mesmerizing.
got another gig on thurs playing with one of my fav australian bands ever:

and might go see dance dj Carl Cox on friday night for a bit of a change in pace as he's going to be previewing a track my partner had a hand in writing.
been to any good gigs recently?

I went to see Psychotic Waltz/Nevermore/Symphony X earlier this month. Excellent shows from all bands (Psychotic Waltz is still queued, pretty easy to verify).
A few weeks earlier I saw Adler's Appetite, which was quite good actually but Steven Adler's quite pathetic. He never wrote a song in his life and goes out playing almost all songs from Appetite For Destruction as if he was the mastermind behind it.
I'll be seeing local bands The Evil Pony's and The Difference in two weeks (both are queued) and the week after that Vain (also queued) is playing a small club here (150 people - same club Adler played at).

It's tough to get out these days. Last show I was at was this guy:

He's a genius.

Off the top of my head (barring the odd local show) I think my last three gigs were the Lawrence Arms, Frank Turner and the Gaslight Anthem. But that's going back the best part of a year - not getting out as much as we used to seems to be a common theme...

I just got back from work, I have the week off next week and I'm seeing local thrash band Devastation in a couple of hours. Now that's a good start of the weekend.
