Any Experience with Performing Rights Orgs

For all the board/bored musicians out there.

I was curious to see if any of you have had experience with performing rights orgs like ASCAP or BMI?

I've been doing some research on an org called SESAC. They make sure you get paid after a show and they help out with touring and living costs. They occasionally even hold contests.

Does anyone have any first hand experiences with companies like this?
