Just looked at the stats. Sometime over the last few months King Crimson have overtaken Whitesnake as the most-connected band (within 3 steps) - nearly 19% of the database!
Not quite..

There are now at least 10 bands with a local tree of 1100 or more...

Whitesnake 1299
King Crimson 1290
Black Sabbath 1179
Uriah Heep 1168
Juicy Lucy 1164
UFO 1162
Centipede 1152
Asia 1133
Foreigner 1109
Chicken Shack 1103

(Uriah Heep has jumped to the 4 spot.)

Am I missing any? (First time around I missed Juicy Lucy.)
Thanks Matt!

By making me look at Frank Diez' website I now know he's worked with ex-Snake Colin Hodgkinson .. more close links for the 'Snake!

King Crimson: 1300
Whitesnake: 1301

We've just added a couple of high-connectivity Peter Brotzmann bands which have shortened some crucial links around the Centipede / Golden Palominos area. Could have had an effect.

It's getting hard to work out the effect, partially because they are only 2 steps apart and share so many bands in the spheres they're in. I agree that KC being 1 step from Centipede instead of 2 (WS) can't hurt!

Whitesnake: 1301

Thanks to Colonel Les Claypool's Fearless Flying Frog Brigade.

"My frog's just killed your snake."
"What! How could your frog kill my snake?"
"Er, he kinda got stuck in his throat."

I've got some stuff in the queue that helps the 'Snake but whether it ever gets in or not is another matter!

King Crimson has jumped to 1320, while Whitesnake is stalled at 1302. This is in part thanks to the inclusion of Hoxha, which joins Crimson (via Centipede's Paul Rutherford) to the extensive oeuvre of Ken Vandermark...

Centipede itself has crawled all the way to 1204, which I believe is good enough for third place! Uriah Heep has managed to hold on to the 4 spot with 1196, having leapfrogged Black Sabbath (stuck at 1186).
All hail the mighty Crimson!

1401.
I believe that's because of the (seriously belated) entry of Poseidon.

Uriah Heep is edging out Centipede for third place, 1240 to 1227. The addition of the Spencer Davis Group's "Funky" definitely helped out the Heep... that Ollie Olsson sure got around.

(Whoa, Asia's up to 1223... how'd *that* happen?)

King Crimson has broken the 1500 barrier -- it's currently at 1504. Everyone else is left in the dust (Whitesnake 1391, Centipede 1317, Uriah Heep and Asia both at 1297).

It's probably set to go somewhat higher. I predict a concomitant rise for Centipede, as there's still a lot of jazz out there within a sniff of it, which we've still only scratched the surface of.
