Hi.
I'm new to the forums so excuse me if i'm talking about something you've already gone through a thousand times.

Dan the automator, the man behind handsome boy modeling school, started Head Automatica with Daryl. He left the project once Daryl decided to make it a full time band, but he actually wrote alot of the decadance record. Vinnie from the movielife/i am the avalanche was also in that lineup, playing guitar, but that's not really that important.

The key here is whether Dan actually played on the Decadance album. If he didn't play on it then unfortunately we cannot include him. This even happens to official members of the band who didn't show up for the recording for whatever reason even if they are credited in the liner notes. Not on the recording = not included, those are our Rules.

As for Vinnie, was he a credited member of the band? Session musicians also do not count.

Let me know about these and if our listing needs to be adjusted. Thanks.

Sadly, quite a few sites suggest that we have the lineup wrong.

[www.the-trades.com] includes Nakamura and Gorman, but says the others are in the live band only.

[www.sing365.com] says something similar (Nakamura = beats, producer) and shows a two-member band photo.

Hey. Thanks for being so friendly.

Vinnie wasn't really the issue since he only "helped out" in the pre-production of decadance. Dan Nakamura basically formed the band with Daryl.

Daryl had been playing around with electronic music for a few years and made a few pretty lousy, uninspired internet-releases, but it wasn't until he met up with Nakamura that Head Automatica formed.

When the album was done, Warner and Daryl decided together that it was probably a good idea to turn this "side-project" into a "real band", because the whole dance-indie-rock sound just happened to be blowing up and the cd was already done. This caused Dan to leave because he didn't want to be in a real band, he's "just a producer" who likes to make songs while colaborating with others out of thin air. Head automatica these days is a band affair, with everyone jamming out the songs together.

So, Daryl and Dan formed the band. The band would never have been what it is without Dan, and he wrote the cd with daryl. Vinnie i guess is only counted as a studio musician.

And yes, Gorman was an early member, not a founder, but was a member of the band on that cd.

Everything is going to change for the next record though, because they're a full time band now.

Can you tell me if any of the guys other than Nakamura, Palumbo, and Gorman played on the album? I would have thought no, especially from all the reviews that I've read, but these sites suggest that at least some of the other members appeared on the album:

[thebastardprince.com] (Brandon Arnovick says he did session work on this album)

[profile.myspace.com] ("i think i'm on about half a million records that are out there on your shelves, from Galactic to Handsome Boy Modeling School to head automatica to rondo brothers to samantha stollenwerck to vinyl to a whole bunch more.")

Yes, there were a bunch of people doing session work and collaborating on "decadance", but only nakamura, palumbo and gorman were official members of the band for that release. They're releasing a new cd on 6:th of june though, with a 5 man lineup.

I'm willing to fall in line with that. What is your source of all this knowledge?
