Album Info?

Been visiting for quite a while. Keep thinking how cool it would be to have more album info, like tracklist, run times, genre, band origin ie. what city or country they are from.
I understand genre can be really relative and track times may be cumbersome to track down, but tracklist and country/city of origin would be awesome and seemingly easy to find while researching releases from various bands.
If it is partly the readers duty to provide research and fill gaps it would be very worth while to include at least those two pieces of information.
What do you think?

We had this conversation before early in the history of this site. Although it would be a nice-to-have, the work involved would be considerable (I've analysed the problem myself as an academic exercise) and it was decided that what this site does is excellent in itself and it's best to stick to what we're good at.
There are countless sites out there that list all that sort of detail (and they're growing all the time, e.g. discogs, wikipedia, rateyourmusic etc. and many more, which are plundered extensively by this site for source info) - all this site does is give the links between them.
Glad you like the site, as you can see it's growing all the time on a daily (sometimes hourly) basis and the more research we do, the more we realise we are but scratching the surface.
Behind the scenes there's a wealth of ad-hoc detail which is gathered during the course of such research, and although it would be a dream to present it all, it's just not been collected consistently. Shame, but there you go.

I agree with Matt unfortunately. Genre is just too subjective and it's often difficult enough to define which country a band is 'from' let alone which city. The others (track lists, run times etc) are just not what this site sets out to do. I've pondered that tags might be fun to show a tree based on a tag (eg all NWOBHM bands) but actually that kind of mass tree isn't something we current have the functionality to show and would just be a subjective exercise anyway. The ability to record guest musicians was another one that I thought of at one stage but discarded that idea - that would just be non-linking data.

I see. I suppose having the cross reference of any number of sites clears up that problem. Especially, as you say, now that Wikipedia has been loading up tons of music release info.
Bandtoband is still a fantastic resource. I already know many people that have found bands through other bands and other members and that is one of the greatest things about this site.
I visit almost 2-3 times a week, just to double check some information and see what new stuff might pop up. Particularly in the early hardcore scenes. The cross pollinations in that genre are staggering.
Thanks again, guys!
