I ask that Centipede be reduced to a solo act of Keith Tippett (and possibly his wife).
Rule 7/7a
"Supergroups and jam bands are represented only by their core membership. Core membership is determined by identifying the founders and organizers of a band."

It seems clear under our current rules that Centipede is probably overstated by a magnitude of 50-odd. Views?

What makes this different to (say) 'Band Aid' where only Geldof and Ure are included? Is it that Centipede are credible jazz-fusion honchos? Bananarama weren't in Centipede?

One possible difference is that Centipede recorded an album together and performed live several times, thereby supporting the argument that it was a legitimate band.

Band Aid also performed live at Live Aid under that name - see:

It's hard to say exactly where the line should be drawn, but I think the history of Centipede saves it from categorization as supergroup or jam band.

[www.macgraphic.co.jp] shows us that over the course of a year, the band performed live at least eight times, both before and after the album was recorded.

[www.geocities.com] provides a bit more history.

[plaza.harmonix.ne.jp] has some detailed credits, if those are of any interest.
