played some sax, born in Liverpool in 1958, went to Laird School of Art in Birkenhead and the Sheffield College of Art.

next we have Those Naughty Lumps who were formed in 1977 with a Martin Cooper around at least in 1978. Later on he was in a band called the Moderates. allmusic and RYM links this Cooper to the one above but i'm having trouble finding any better evidence.

finally there's a 3rd Martin Cooper and there isn't much about him. He was in the Magits in around 1978 and possibly attended art school with Nick Blinko. i'm not sure where they were based.
all Coopers seem to be around the same age. maybe we need out where their bands are based in this period.
EDIT:
on a related note, i finally got Rudimentary Peni in through some Trance groups and a Finnish boy band, coming close to Stratovarius and Leningrad Cowboys on the way. the connections never cease to amaze me.
