My favorite statistic, something that probably no one else but BandToBand could compute:

1. Beach Boys : 50 years
2. The Ventures : 49 years
3. Neil Young With Crazy Horse : 43 years

I'm pretty sure it said 30 when I saw it yesterday.

Yeah, this link has been a problem for me. The trouble is that each step in the chain is an album line-up (not just the album). So when the longest link is computed it counts:

Sam Cook
to
Nayas "s/t" : line-up A

When you do the link by hand, it computes:

Sam Cook
to
Nayas "s/t" : any line-up

As a result it stops at line-up B, 30 steps, and doesn't continue for the full 31 steps to line-up A. I'll have to figure out how best to handle this.

Largest total number of band members for a band.

IIRC one of Mike Westbrook's bands had something like 4 lineups of about 20 people each, each lineup near enough totally different, making for a total of about 80 members.

That would be entertaining.

And any chance of getting the Degree Centrality - 3rd Level back?

Any plans to bring back stats on band pages?

The largest total band members is now in. I don't have 3rd degree centrality because of how the computations are done, the same with band stats. It takes hours and hours to do all the limited computations but I can look into expanding them and see how bad things get.

A few things:

* "3nd" should be "3rd".
* Is "degrees" the right measure? Or just "bands"?
* Where's Gilgamesh? I don't get Kevin's comment.
* Are these numbers right? When we were keeping score a couple of years ago, the top groups were only in the 4K range, so that would be quite a jump (esp. since we have less than 20K bands total).

Those 3rd-level numbers are out of control! It now puts The Carla Bley Band at 21,494 -- way more than the # of bands in the db.

Roy Haynes' career in our db is at 62 years, why isn't he included in the statistics?

I think the career length stats are reliant on recording dates (at least for the end point). Haynes' 2011 solo album didn't have a rec date - I've added one so I think he should show up in the stats next time they're updated.

OK, thanks. My suggestion is to use the earliest release date when the earliest rec. date is unavailable (of course I wouldn't do that with the latest release date, since that could depend on a re-release).

When B.B. King's "Live At The Royal Albert Hall 2011" goes live, he'll be tied with Mr. Haynes at 62 years (both of them started in 1949).

When his latest album Blue Moon (2012) goes live, Ahmad Jamal will enter the longest career-top 5.
