OK, I'm dedicating this thread to wacky feature requests that don't necessarily make sense! Maybe they'll inspire some actually smart requests. Or who knows, maybe someone will think they're good ideas! I'll start with three:

(1) bandtoband RSS/Atom feed!
Just imagine your RSS reader showing you the contents of that "Latest Additions" box! You'd know immediately as soon as a new band got added! Yay!

(2) Random link!
aka "I'm Feeling Lucky" for the bandtoband crowd! Just hit a button and have the site give you the chain between a random start and end point.

(3) Map restrictions!
See that "create map" box? What if it had a little "+" box where you could add conditions, one by one, as many as you'd like? Imagine asking for a link between bands A and B that MUST contain artist C! Or how about seeing if it's possible to construct a link between A and B WITHOUT artists D or E? Or a link that only goes through bands with 1 album in the tree, or bands whose names start with letters below 'Q'!

Contribute yours! Just try to think of some wacky feature that you have no idea why you'd need it. It might be a good way to make the logical leap to a useful but heretofore-unconceived idea.

Well, actually, I had been thinking about your third suggestion as well. It would be fun add conditions to a search. It's probably hard to implement though...

PK,

Some good suggestions, I'll see what I can do.

1. The RSS feed shouldn't be too hard. I have never messed with feeds but I'm sure I could figure it out.

2. Random link shouldn't be too hard either. I'll give it a shot.

3. Definitely a bit trickier although it could may be possible. I'd have to think about how to add each possible condition and their significance in the search. This one would take some time to work through completely but not a bad idea at all. It would make for an interesting study to investigate the resiliency of the network if a particular link or links were to be excluded in the connection of two particular nodes. Hmmm...
