as part of my uni course, i've been playing around with a bunch of Web 2.0 tools like RSS feeds and social bookmarking and some general stuff i've never bothered with before, and trying to assess how useful it is to me. one thing that might be handy if everyone was keen would be having a communal online lists of links that we could access and contribute to with handy resources for b2bing.

this is the sort of thing i was thinking of.
it would involve people signing up to Diigo. i would set up a group and give access to b2b people.
then we can each add links and a description of their use, and tag them so that they're easy to find when we're looking for something specific.

for example, i have a good kanji to romaji translator (for Japanese entries) bookmarked that i sometimes look at. i also stumble across good band resource sites from time to time, like some crazy Israeli music site with detailed lineup info (though all in Hebrew), and occasional family tree image files (including the original b2b family tree image).

would this be something people would be interested in? i know that people normally post on the forum if they find a cool resource, but it pretty soon gets lots amongst everything else. it might be a good way of organising our communication a bit more. and it's a good way of procrastinating while i should be doing assignments.

Could do, but I have a habit of saying contentious stuff which gets me kicked out of every group I participate in so be warned that the zero tolerance society in which I seem to have fetched up in may result in the group being banned if I'm in it.

ok, the group is here. if you want to contribute bookmarks you'll have to sign up to Diigo but it's a fairly painless process. then you'll just have to request to join the group.
the bookmark list is public at the moment but if everyone joins up I might just make it viewable to B2B researchers only.

@Matt - i don't think the site really gives you enough room to offend anyone, unless you start posting links to Nationalist organisations or deviant pornography sites.

anyone have any other resources they frequently use? copyright directories (ascap, bmi) would be handy as i don't really know how to use them at the moment.

this isn't really being used very much at the moment and i think i'd actually like to upgrade this to a wiki where we could have stuff like:
- links, such as what's currently up at diigo but organised better, and like what discogs has on their wiki: [wiki.discogs.com]
- procedures for adding info, including a section on each field about how to add info and where info should be sourced from, and including the most recent rulings that would otherwise be hidden away somewhere in the forums.
- other guides, such as copyright searching, and how to edit images using photoshop and those vinyl templates.
- suggestions for further features/rules and what features/rules are currently being considered or developed.

the purpose would be to help us find information easier, and also allow any new database helpers (there seems to be fewer people around these days) to pick things up a little easier.

i'm currently doing a full-time placement at an academic library in the collection provision section, so i'm currently in organisation mode (even moreso than usual) and i'd like to make a start on this (if people think it wouldn't be a total waste of time) and then everyone else can start adding stuff.

any ideas for a good host? no ads would be good, and i'd also like it if it were only visible and editable to logged-in users (namely, us). i'm looking at wikispot and wikispaces but really have no idea.
